Terms of use for the content in Hello! Database

This section has details on how you may use the content in the Hello! Database. Should the page you are about to use define different terms, those supercede the ones defined here. In case of needing more information, please use the feedback form. In most cases the site owner is permitted to allow any kind of use of the content, on his discretion.

Obviously laws of whatever jurisdictions apply supercede the limitations, and fair use rights are of course also permitted.

Screenshots and such

The following applies for both commercial and non-commercial entities, and supercedes other limitations placed on the content:

  • If you are in some way referring to this site, you are free to use any screenshots of the site for that purpose, whether commercial or not.

  • Text extracts can be freely used for the purpose of linking, or otherwise referring to the site. This does NOT include serving the content as your own and simply linking to the site at some point, but it does include, among other things, reviews.

Text

At least for now, all the text content on this site is owned by the site owner.

  • By default, no commercial use of the content is allowed (a separate agreement must be made)

  • Non-commercial uses of the content is permittable, on the condition that the source is clearly mentioned with both site name and URL either to front page or the actual page with the content.

  • Facts as such can not be copyrighted, so you are free to take any facts and other similar information from the site, as long as you present it in your own words rather than copy-pasted text segments.

Images

With very few exceptions, I am not the copyright owner of the images on this site, and as such can not provide any permission for using them.

If you contribute

By default, the following apply, when you contribute content:

  • You must own the copyright or comparable rights to whatever you contribute

  • You give the site owner the full rights equal to copyright, or the copyright of the material itself when you contribute. This is required so that I can be fully in control of the site and how the content is re-used by other parties.

  • The contribution can be used by others according to the terms specified above on this page.

  • It is likely that I only extract the valuable pieces of information from your contribution and write the text ending up on the site completely myself; in that case I own the copyright for the new piece.

  • You will not be credited on the page in which the content appears, unless the contribution is of substantial value; I will normally only note your contribution in the news item regarding the update. This is only so that I don't end up with a site with large portitions of the pages dedicated to attributions.

Any demands for a more restricted use will in most cases cause the contribution to be left out; if, however, the contribution is of substantial value to the site, a separate agreement can be made.
